Action: Education and Culture
The University is called upon to reconsider itself in a sustainable way not only by improving structures and services, but also by enhancing education for sustainability through the creation of an academic network for a culture of sustainability and the strengthening of relations with stakeholders.
The drafting of the University of Pisa’s Sustainability Report, the promotion of a cross-curricular offer on the 2030 Agenda goals, the organisation of events and cultural initiatives on the topic of sustainability, are only a few examples of the University of Pisa’s commitment to implement the objectives of the Statute and the University’s planning tools.
Achieving the 17 SDGs requires inclusive collaborations and partnerships based on a common vision and principles that put people and the Planet at the centre. This requires a profound change that means a new way of thinking, teaching, and doing research: in fact, education for sustainability it is not only handing knowledge down and training skills, but also taking actions aimed at raising awareness, communicating and stimulating sustainable behaviour, leaving no one behind and fostering the growth and enhancement of soft skills, to make the University a model of a sustainable community.
