Action: Accountability
To make the word “sustainable” real, it is necessary to have the knowledge to turn it into action. Having reliable statistical data is crucial for internal monitoring of the University’s sustainability activities but also for participation in international rankings specific to the impact on society such as those of Times Higher Education and QS Sustainability.
For this reason, a delegate for sustainability rankings and indicators has been appointed within the CoSA, to act as liaison with the Rector’s Delegate for University Statistics.
By analysing the data and interpreting the results, it is possible to get a complete picture of the University’s performance in the different areas of sustainability. Rankings, such as those mentioned above, assess various aspects, including environmental impact, energy efficiency, social commitment, and sustainable governance. Using accurate statistical methods, the University can monitor its progress over time and identify strengths and areas for improvement.

Transparency towards all stakeholders is an essential principle guiding CoSA and is also reflected in the choice to periodically draw up, on a voluntary basis, the University of Pisa’s Sustainability Report.
